Despite the unimpressive sales (brought about no doubt by the lagging US economy) Britney Spears kicked off her first tour in five years to a very energetic New Orleans crowd. The show which featured everything but the kitchen sink, included fire breathers, midgets, cages, scantily clad dancers, and several costume changes that range from skimpy to downright theatrical. All things considered, the show was considered a success. Fans described it as a “life-changing experience”.

Now, I dunno about the bubblegum trash that Brit-Brit spews out on a regular basis, but from what I’ve heard about the show, it does seem like a spectacle. Maybe the over-the-top production values will ultimately distract you from the gratingly nasal vocal tones and the mind-numbing dumbed-down lyrics of her tunes. And I guess that her once flabby body has now been restored to it’s original “Baby One More Time” hotness, so with her coverage-deficient outfits it’s easy to get a stiff one. Apparently in the middle of the show, Britney grabs a male audience member, pulls him onstage, and basically dances in his face. Now, that I’d definitely pay good money for, provided a guarantee that I’ll be the guy she pulls onstage. I mean, to have those tits and that crotch right up in my face — I’m there!

So I guess this means no more crazy from Brit-Brit. Well, don’t count it out just yet. Naysayers are still wondering if she’ll be able to finish this tour. If she’ll get through it without breaking down, running off stage during a performance, make wacky guest appearances — basically all the insane stuff she used to do. But it looks like she’s in a pretty good place now, both personally and professionally. I’m not one to encourage this… sane behavior, but I’d have to admit I wish her the best. I can always just head on over here to relive all the funny and odd things our comeback queen used to do. And hope that maybe, just maybe, there’s a bit of crazy left in her.

In a shoot for her latest video for a song (don’t know which one exactly) from her platinum-selling comeback CD Circus, Britney Spears is going the whole pie-baking, perfectly dressed, stay at home mom route. But as you can see from the wardrobe choice (or should I say lack thereof) this suburban mama may have something else under her coiffed ‘do.

It’s all part of the whole reinvention of Brit-brit’s career after a crazy 2007-2008. Everyone thought she would never recover from the tabloid frenzy over her insane behavior (you know what I’m talking about!), the custody battle over her kids with K-Fed, and her already spiraling music career. But she proved them all wrong by coming back strong, powerful, and completely fuckable. When the video for Womanizer came out, everyone was stunned at how gorgeous Britney’s body looked. And she played it to good effect, appearing nude in the video, as if to say “I got nothing to hide bitches!”

But I gotta admit, I do miss the crazy. Ya gotta admit it was entertaining. The head-shaving. The bogus British accent. The bawling her eyes out in her front yard in front of all the paparazzi. Yes, yes, sad, but entertaining. At least now, she’s cleaned up real good and with a hit CD and an already fast-selling out tour coming up, our princess of pop is back on track! Let’s just hope she doesn’t do anything to screw it up this time.

Britney Spears was expected to arrive in court this morning to argue that she should retain at least some visitation rights of her two children.  Although not required to appear, it was explained to her by her council that it was extremely important for her to show and explain her actions over the past few months.  Friday, TMZ said it like this:

Monday’s custody hearing could be one of the most important days in Britney Spears’ life  Brit needs to face the judge to explain herself if she’s got any hope of getting her kids back. Our sources tell us if she doesn’t show, or is uncooperative, it could be curtains for her custody case.

Oh, hey guess what…
Though her assistant and a mohawked Kevin Federline arrived early this morning at L.A. Superior Court for another hearing in the ongoing custody battle, Britney Spears is still a no-show.
Perhaps she’s in need of some rest.

Kevin Federline has doubled security at his home now that Britney’s out of the hospital. He’s seriously pissed that she was released so soon and fears she’ll make a run at the boys like she did in February 2007, according to OK! Magazine:

“The boys are safe for now,” the source reveals to OK!. “But Kevin feels Britney is clearly deranged, and there’s no telling what she’ll do. After all, this is a woman who two days ago barricaded herself in her bedroom with her youngest child for three hours!” Adds the insider, “You can’t get mentally well in a hospital after 36 hours.”

A reliable source for People revealed today that Britney’s drug test was negative for drugs and alcohol echoing early reports that her episode was mental:

“She tested clean,” the source says. “This lady is as clean as clean can be, and has been for some time.”
